GS-2: Bilateral, regional and global groupings and agreements involving India and/or affecting India’s interests.

Context: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's State Visit to Indonesia resulted in 20 major outcomes, including 14 MoUs/agreements and six major announcements, further strengthening the India–Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) established in 2018.

• PM Modi held bilateral talks with President Prabowo Subianto, received Indonesia's highest civilian honour – Bintang Adipurna (34^th International award), addressed the Indonesian Parliament and inaugurated the India-supported conservation project at the UNESCO-listed Prambanan Temple.
• The visit marked PM Modi's first bilateral visit to Indonesia since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018.
• It reflected the shared vision of both countries for a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific, aligned with India's Act East Policy and MAHASAGAR Vision.

Key Outcomes

Defence & Maritime Cooperation:

• Indonesia agreed in principle to procure two batteries of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system valued at $200 million and Astra Mk-1 Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missiles for its Su-30 fighter aircraft.
• Indonesia became the third foreign country to procure BrahMos after the Philippines and Vietnam.
• Extension of MoU and Implementation Agreement on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation.
• Deployment of an Indonesian Liaison Officer at the Information Fusion Centre–Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR).

Critical Minerals & Industrial Supply Chains:

• MoU on Minerals and Steel Supply Chains.
• Collaboration on rare earth magnets between India's NFTDC, Midwest Ltd. and Indonesia's PT PERMINAS.
• Strengthening resilient supply chains for critical minerals, steel and advanced manufacturing.
• Strategic Joint Venture between Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and PT Krakatau Steel for establishment of a Stainless-Steel Slab manufacturing facility in Indonesia.

Space Cooperation:

• Extension of the Framework Agreement on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
• Promotion of joint research, technology sharing and capacity building.

Technology & Digital Partnership:

• MoU on Telecommunication Technologies and Services.
• MoU on Research, Technology and Innovation.
• Launch of Indonesia Open Network (ION) based on India's Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)

Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals:

• MoU between CDSCO (India) and BPOM (Indonesia) on medical products regulation.
• Implementation Agreement on Health Workforce Collaboration.
• Agriculture & Food Security:
• MoU on Agriculture and Allied Sectors.
• India announced the supply of 100 tonnes of DWR-162 wheat seeds to Indonesia.

Disaster Management:

• MoU between India's NDMA and Indonesia's National agency for disaster management.
• Education & Skill Development:
• Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore to establish its branch campus at Singhasari Special Economic Zone, Indonesia.

Cultural & People-to-People Cooperation:

• India to assist in the conservation and restoration of the UNESCO World Heritage Prambanan Temple Complex in Yogyakarta.
• Commemoration of 2026–27 as the "Tagore–Dewantara Year of Cultural and Educational Diplomacy" marking the centenary of Rabindranath Tagore's 1927 visit to Indonesia.

Democratic & Institutional Cooperation:

• MoU between the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Indonesia's General Elections Commission (KPU).
