The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is likely to raise the repo rate twice by as much as 50 basis points by the end of December 2026 in line with global tightening cycle and excess liquidity in the banking system.

The government's net direct tax collection rose 13% to more than 12.12 lakh crore till September 17 in the current financial year, buoyed by better advance tax mop-up from corporates, data released by CBDT on Friday showed.
